The CEO
Most CEO’s are recruited by the Board or Investors. They are business executives experienced at growing start-up and early stage technology companies who are skilled at a wide range of entrapeneural issues including; raising capital; keeping product development on track; establishing effective Board relationships; the acquisition and leadership of key functional executives; managing P&L; assuring that legal and regulatory matters are satisfied; meeting the goals of investors and key stakeholders.
Opportunities for development of the CEO include:
- providing techniques to help CEO's collaborate more fully with the Founder to maximize the Founder’s contributions
- coaching to fully develop leadership effectiveness
- increasing their ability to successfully manage conflict
- helping to create a process for introducing change into the organization; thus reducing employee resistance to new systems, processes and reporting relationships as the company grows from a start-up to a more formal entity
- providing the CEO with support on organizational design issues which is needed as the organization matures
